Prof. Anthony Leung and Research Group honored with Canadian Geotechnical Society R. M. Quigley Award
Prof. Anthony Leung and his associate, Dr. Ali Akbar Karimzadeh (Postdoc Research Fellow), as well as members of Prof. Leung’s research group have been awarded the prestigious R. M. Quigley Award (2022) by the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) for a paper entitled “Monotonic and cyclic behavior of root-reinforced sand” (Karimzadeh et al.), published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal back in 2021.
Dr. Karimzadeh et al.’s article, which provides valuable insights into the behavior of root-reinforced sand, was deemed the best paper among all 141 published by the Canadian Geotechnical Journal in 2021. The R. M. Quigley Award therefore not only serves as a testament to the potential impact that the paper may have on geotechnical engineering, but also recognizes and commends the hard work, dedication, expertise, and excellence of Prof. Leung’s research group.
The Canadian Geotechnical Society was founded in 1945 and has been instrumental in advancing the field of geotechnical engineering not only in Canada but around the world, playing a significant role in promoting research, education, and professional development. Over the years, CGS has grown to become one of the largest and most respected geotechnical organizations in the world.
We congratulate Dr. Karimzadeh, Prof. Leung and members of the team on the award. We are proud to see their work being recognized by such a well- reputed and respected organization, and we look forward to more exciting output from the group.
